   ⇒ Synthetic detergents, artificial seasoning, and clothing treated with chemicals are all off linits.

3. "taking action from the home."
   ⇒ In each home, housewives can contrubute to improve environmental situations by using Seikatsu Club.

4. Started in 1974, the club's soap movement offers a fine example of environmental awareness and how "the kitchen" can provide an effective starting point for a political movement.
   ⇒ Housewives have noticed that the soap harmed the river and by their action, the situation turned better. It means that the awareness in the close place such as kitchen can make a big movement in politics.

5. The club has given women, historically isolated in the home, a vehicle for political involvement.
   ⇒ The movement by women in the Seikatsu Club stimulated the political participation of women who had been only on housework.
